Body Hack and OT Gear Explained

Learn how Body Hack slots, Overtech Gear and Acelino fit into permanent progression, movesets and Style Eat builds.

What is Body Hack?

Body Hack lets Davy replace parts of his undead body with Overtech Gear. There are four named equipment areas: left arm, right arm, head and legs. These are prepared at the shopping mall and work alongside the temporary monster forms collected during a dungeon dive.

The system is handled by Acelino at Ink on the Brain, a tattoo shop in the mall. Official material describes Acelino as the person responsible for developing, managing and embedding OT Gear.

How is it different from Style Eat?

The cleanest way to understand the two systems is permanence.

System Acquired where Role
Style Eat From enemies during a run Temporary forms and abilities
Body Hack Prepared at the shopping mall Equipment taken into dungeon dives

Style Eat changes the two extra forms available during the current attempt. Body Hack gives that attempt a prepared foundation. Because the equipment works across transformations, a part should be judged by how it supports the whole plan, not just Zombie Style.

The Style Eat guide covers all 11 forms. For the complete run structure, use the beginner guide.

Why does the left arm matter?

GPTRACK50’s early presentation specifically showed left-arm equipment changing Davy’s moveset. One demonstrated item, the Blast Jumper, launches him upward with an explosion and can be fired again to descend with another area blast.

That example is useful because it is more than raw damage. It adds vertical movement, area coverage and a way back to the ground. When comparing gear, note the problem the part solves before comparing rarity or a single stat.

How should you evaluate OT Gear?

Until the full tables are available, use four practical questions:

  1. Does the part change a move, add a move or only alter a number?
  2. Does it cover a weakness in the two Styles you tend to keep?
  3. Is the effect useful against bosses, crowds or both?
  4. Does the activation expose Davy long enough to become a liability?

This is also why a universal “best build” list would be misleading before launch. A setup for airborne enemies may be worse in a cramped arena; a crowd-clearing part may add little to a single-target boss attempt. Our builds overview keeps those jobs separate.

Where do Body Hack materials come from?

The official demo description says monsters drop Over-Technology used for enhanced weapons. Goyle’s Security Room can show materials needed for orders, while Acelino manages the gear itself. Exact costs and drop rates have not been published.

The First Bite demo includes Body Hack, making it possible to inspect early parts and menus now. Any future material table on this wiki will record the platform and game version beside the numbers.
